FROM THE CENTER FOR INVESTIGATIVE REPORTING
In 1970, 90% of women's teams were coached by women. Today that number is 43%. That drop initially was catalyzed by the passage of Title IX, the civil rights law aimed at eradicating gender discrimination in sports. The proportion of women coaching sports plummeted after the passage of the law, and in recent decades it's showed no signs of reversing itself.
Our investigation finds out why, and follows the mysterious firing of a beloved field hockey coach at the University of Iowa.
